Mosquitos

Post  poordax on Mon Jan 30, 2012 7:16 am

Yes indeed I remember the knightsbridge and I remember Rock around the clock. One of the best bands ever were the Mosquitoes from Leamington. I remember tumbling down the stairs after one of their gigs, falling out the door and burying my head into a pile of dirty snow to cool down. When I looked up a policeman was standing looking at me with his hands on his hips. I was 15 and very drunk.
I remember Downstream, The Detours and Exit. I'm sure that other names will come to me. For me and a lot of my school mates the Kightsbridge was our "cavern". I was heartbroken when it turned into quick fit

The Mosquitoes

Post  Admin on Sat Feb 04, 2012 5:12 pm

I remember The Mosquitoes, i knew guitarist Steve Walwyn & drummer Andy Chaplin. They both also played in The DT's & the Steve Marriot band. Steve Walwyn also went on to play for Dr Feelgood & Eddie & the Hot Rods. The story of those guys began as far as i remember with drummer Andy and his band Cupid's Inspiration who had a hit around 1968 called Yesterday Has Gone. That band morphed into Leamington Spa based outfit 4 Wheel Drive. That's where Steve Walwyn came into the picture. From that came a track & a band called Chevy, which in 1980 was released on the bronze/EMI compilation album Metal for Muthas Vol. II. Chevy did a 30 year reunion gig at The Assembly, Leamington Spa last year. I remember doing lights for Chevy one night, it was all controlled by massive throw switches in the wings of the stage lol.
